Thirty days. That’s 720 hours between now and your NCLEX. Used wisely, it’s more than enough time to pass.

This plan gives you a day-by-day structure. Follow it consistently, and you’ll walk into your exam confident and prepared.

Before You Start

What You Need

Essential:

  • Calendar for tracking progress
  • 4-6 hours daily for studying

Day 1: Assessment Day

Morning (2 hours):

  • Review your results by category
  • List your top 5 weakest areas
  • Do 50 practice questions (mixed content)

Evening (1 hour):

  • Read rationales for every wrong answer
  • Plan tomorrow’s focus areas

Day 2: First Focus Day

Morning (2 hours):

  • 50 questions in your weakest area
  • Thorough rationale review

Afternoon (2 hours):

  • 50 mixed questions
  • Continue rationale review

Evening (1-2 hours):

  • Light content review (videos/cheat sheets) for weak areas
  • No more than 1 hour of passive content

Days 3-5: Building Rhythm

Day 14: Recovery Day

Lighter study day to prevent burnout.

  • Review most-missed question types from the week
  • Take a real break in the evening
  • Get extra sleep

Week 2 Total: ~800 questions


Week 3: Intensive Practice (Days 15-21)

Goal: Build stamina and consistency with high-volume practice.

Days 15-18: Peak Volume

This is the most intensive phase. You’re building test-taking stamina.

Return focus to Next Generation NCLEX content.

  • 75 mixed questions
  • Deep review of any case study types you’re struggling with

Daily target: 125 questions

Day 21: Week 3 Assessment

Morning:

  • Readiness assessment #4
  • Are you hitting “high” consistently?

Afternoon:

  • 75 questions in any remaining weak areas
  • Plan final week

Evening:

  • Review all 4 assessment scores
  • Identify any last content gaps

Week 3 Total: ~950 questions


Week 4: Readiness + Polish (Days 22-30)

Goal: Confirm readiness and prepare for exam day.

Days 22-24: Final Content Polish

Address any remaining weak areas identified in Week 3 assessments.

Daily structure:

  • 100-125 questions daily
  • Focus on your 2-3 remaining problem areas
  • Reduce content review—you should know the material by now

Day 25-26: Readiness Confirmation

Goal: Achieve “high” on consecutive readiness assessments.

Day 25:

  • Morning: Readiness assessment #5
  • Afternoon: 75 targeted questions based on results

Day 26:

  • Morning: Readiness assessment #6
  • Afternoon: 75 mixed questions

What you’re looking for: “High” or “very high” on both assessments.

If you’re not there yet, continue with Days 27-28 following the intensive schedule.

If you are hitting “high” consistently, you can reduce volume and focus on maintaining confidence.

Day 27-28: Final Practice

If still working toward “high”:

  • Continue 100-125 questions daily
  • Take additional readiness assessments as needed

If consistently scoring “high”:

  • Reduce to 75 questions daily
  • Focus on maintaining confidence, not cramming
  • Review high-yield topics (ABCs, prioritization, delegation)

Day 29: Pre-Exam Day

Morning only:

  • Light review of high-yield topics (1-2 hours max)
  • 25-50 questions just to stay sharp
  • Stop by noon

Afternoon/Evening:

  • Prepare everything for exam day (ID, directions, confirmation)
  • Do something relaxing (not NCLEX-related)
  • Go to bed at normal time

No new content. You know what you know. Rest is more valuable now.

Day 30: Exam Day

Morning:

  • Normal breakfast (not too heavy)
  • Brief review of your reframing statements (if anxiety is a factor)
  • Arrive 30 minutes early

During the exam:

  • Take offered breaks
  • Use breathing techniques if stressed
  • One question at a time
  • Trust your preparation

Week 4 Total: ~700 questions

Adjusting the Plan

If You’re Ahead of Schedule

Scoring “high” consistently by Week 3? You can:

  • Schedule your exam earlier
  • Reduce daily volume and avoid burnout
  • Maintain with 75-100 questions daily until exam

If You’re Behind Schedule

Not hitting benchmarks by Week 4? Options:
