CRNA: state has NOT opted out of the CMS Medicare physician-supervision requirement; physician supervision is required for CRNA anesthesia services under Medicare. State scope may differ.

Prescriptive Authority: CRNA may prescribe, order, and administer drugs (incl. CDS, 10-day supply limit) per COMAR 10.27.06.05A(5) & .05D, but only in collaboration with an anesthesiologist, licensed physician, or dentist who is physically available for consultation (COMAR 10.27.06.06A); nurse anesthesia is defined as acts in collaboration with a physician/dentist (10.27.06.01B(10)).
