CRNA License Requirements by State

NBCRNA Certification Required

All states require CRNAs to be certified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). Starting in 2025, a doctoral degree is required for entry into practice.

ICU Experience Required

CRNA programs require 1-2 years of critical care nursing experience. Most programs prefer candidates with ICU, CCU, or ER experience.
